Château Laurence
Domaine Profile
Clos Bertineau is a 38 acres plot located in Montagne Saint Emilion appellation. In 2005, Philippe Nunes acquired this small plot of Montagne Saint Emilion, allowing him to make his dream reality: “producing his own wine”
Philippe Nunes grew up in the Bordeaux vineyards and graduated as oenologist from the famous university of Bordeaux in 1997. After several experiences on the right and left bank, he is, since 1998, the technical director of Hubert de Bouärd’s famous Lalande de Pomerol vineyard: La Fleur de Boüard. Since 2000, Philippe Nunes is also a member of Hubert de Bouärd consultant team and partner since 2007.
In 2012, Hubert de Boüard de Laforest (Château Angélus) associate with Philippe Nunes with a new common project. They acquired with friends a 6.6 hectares estate, on a clay and chalky plateau of Saint Sulplice and Cameyrac, as well as on the gravely clays of Montussan, a perfect terroir for the culture of Merlot. The vines overhang a small river, La Laurence, from which it took his name.
This two experts apply their experience to reveal the best expression from this Merlot and to produce an average of 12 000 bottles of Château Laurence
per year. Like the great growth from Bordeaux, the cellar benefits from stainless steel temperature controlled vats and wines are aged for 16 months in French oak barrels.
